Dr. or Mr. ?

Surgeons are often addressed as either Dr. or Mr./Ms./Miss depending on which part of the world they work. -In Victoria, Australia surgeons are usually called Mr./Ms./Miss. This would be true for the UK as well. In the US, surgeons are called Dr.

This began from old greek days when phycisians(Drs.) would delegate surgery to barbers who were trained to operate. These barbers had a red ribbon around their barber poles to indicate this)
